Troubleshooting

1. Hardware key not found or license has expired

a. Make sure the Sentinel Protection Installer 7.x is installed on your system (Add/Remove Programs). If you do not have this driver loaded, it can be found on the original AIM 1,2,3 CD or it can be downloaded here.

b. Verify the hardware key is securely attached to a working USB port and that key light is on. Unplug the key, wait several seconds, then plug it into a different USB port.

c. Check in the Windows DEVICE HARDWARE to see if a yellow exclamation mark is next to a USB device or root hub.

d. Verify that your system date/time are correct

e. Verify that your AIM 1,2,3 license is still valid. Click here for more information.

2. Program does not recognize my camera automatically when starting program

a. Is your camera supported in the AIM 1,2,3 program? Click here for a complete list of supported cameras

b.Plug the camera into the USB port and make sure the camera is turned on BEFORE starting the AIM 1,2,3 program.

c. Verify that your camera drivers are installed properly and that the camera works properly in Windows XP.

d. Close the AIM 1,2,3 program, unplug the camera and wait 5 seconds, plug the camera into a USB port and wait 5 seconds, then restart the AIM 1,2,3 program.

3. Live Preview does not appear

a. Live preview may not appear if your camera is running on battery power and is low on power. Replace the batteries or plug the camera into A/C using an external camera power supply. Restart program.

b. Live preview will not display when using a DSLR camera due to the camera mirror.

4. Photos are printing off the edge or wrong areas of the paper

a. Verify that you have the Canon PIXMA ip3000 printer setup with the proper printer settings. Click here for diagram.

5. Photos appear pixilated or blurry when PRINTED

a. Verify that you have your 4x6 paper inserted into the lower cassette FACE DOWN.

b. Most cameras will focus at the moment of capture. If your subject is in a poorly lit room and/or has little contrast (i.e.: white tuxedo), increase the ambient light in the room to assist the cameras' auto-focus sensor.

6. Photos appear unsharp or blurry when LIVE

a. Certain cameras make a focus check periodically. If your “poser” happens to be in front of the lens when this takes place, the subject may appear out of focus when you are ready to capture. Continue to take the photo normally as the camera will re-focus once again the moment the shutter button is pressed.

7. Program appears to hang when clicking Reprints

a. When clicking REPRINT, the program must generate thumbnail photos for all images in that event folder. If your folder contains many hi-resolution images, the program may appear to hang while it works to produce these thumbnail images.

8. Program hangs – camera unresponsive

a. If power or the connection to your camera is interrupted while the program is operating, the program may display the message “camera communications lost” or appear to hang. Close the program and unplug the camera. Plug the camera into the PC, wait several seconds for its driver to load, then launch the AIM 1,2,3 program again. In some instances, a camera driver may fail to unload from memory and require that you reboot the PC.

b. If the camera appears to freeze or lose communications multiple times while connected to a USB “hub”, connect the camera cable directly to the PC’s USB port and use the hub for another device such as the printer or hardware key. Some USB hubs do not supply the proper amount of power.

c. If using camera batteries, replace them as some Powershot cameras will not work remotely when the battery level drops below 1/2 power. Close the AIM 1,2,3 program before replacing the batteries.

9. Program hangs on exit

a. On program exit, an attempt to release the camera driver from memory is made. In some instances, this may produce a Windows error message. Unplugging your camera, waiting a few seconds, and then plugging it back in will reload the camera driver.

10.Email address is staying on screen from previous capture

a. If the email information does not disappear after the photo is taken, your email client may be pausing with a message you need to acknowledge. Verify that your email clients security settings are not preventing programs from sending emails directly. For instance, in Outlook Express, the option under Tools – Options – Security that reads: “Warn me when other applications try to send email as me”, should be unchecked.

11. Printer will not print or prints from wrong paper input

a. If the printer is not printing, check to see if the printer icon is in the lower right corner of the taskbar (next to the clock). Double-click the icon, click PRINTERS, and then make sure USE PRINTER OFFLINE is NOT checked. If a document appears in the print queue, you may need to click the document name and then delete the job (press “del” on keyboard) to clear it. Turn the printer off and then back on.

b. Make sure you have the correct printer selected in the settings screen. On some computers, simply plugging a USB printer into a different USB port can make it appear as another printer (i.e.: Canon PIXMA iP3000 Copy 2)

c. Verify that the cassette adapter "bottom" is selected for printing 4x6. The lower right button on the front of the ip3000 printer selects either top or bottom printing.

12. Report screen password

a. The password for the reports section is case sensitve and must be entered in UPPER case. The password is: AIMKC
